Çatalhöyük is an archeological site located 52 km southwest of Konya. It’s one of the best preserved and one the of the oldest archeological site where once human settlements found. Later through the history Konya was the capital of Sultanate of Rum between 10th-12th centuries.  The city hosted the world-famous Sufi thinker Rumi –or Mevlana- during this time.

In your visit to Konya, one of the first thing that you observe is the city has a totally flat structure.

It spread in all directions because there is no mountains or hill around the city center. However, there is only one small hill at the hearth of the city which was made by the workers during Selcuklu period. It was once a palace for the noble residents but there is almost nothing historic now. In fact, a park is located in the area.

Mevlana Museum/Mausoleum of Rumiis a must-see tourist destination. You can see the tomb of Rumi and relics of his life and his time including old manuscripts, hand written copies of the Holy Book of Islam- Kuranand some of Rumi's belongings.
